Backhaul

The transporting of traffic (data) between distributed sites (such as point-to-point microwave transmission access points) and more centralised points of presence. The choice of backhaul technology must take account of such parameters as capacity, cost, reach, and the need for such resources as frequency spectrum, line-of-sight or, (if relevant) optical fibre or rights of way and Point of Presence locations.
